About The Position

We are looking for a Senior Engineer, Electrical Projects to support plant operations and lead critical electrical projects that maintain and enhance our electrical, instrumentation, and control system infrastructure. In this role, you’ll combine hands‑on technical expertise with end‑to-end project leadership. You’ll partner closely with operations and maintenance teams, independently leading complex projects from early scoping through commissioning and handover. Always with safety, reliability, and quality at the forefront. Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field OR equivalent experience (8+ years) managing complex electrical or instrumentation projects
  • PMP certification or significant experience in plant, equipment, maintenance, engineering, operations, or project roles
  • At least 3 years of experience in industrial electrical engineering
  • Solid understanding of project management practices and tools
  • Experience with risk assessment and change management processes
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical and instrumentation systems, standards, and codes
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, loop sheets, single‑line diagrams, and control logic
  • Strong problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Confidence leading projects independently while working closely with others

Responsibilities

  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables aligned with business needs
  • Develop and manage project estimates, budgets, schedules, and execution plans
  • Lead projects through the full lifecycle, from initiation and planning to commissioning and handover
  • Coordinate contractors, consultants, and project team members to deliver work safely and efficiently
  • Track progress, manage change, and report performance across safety, schedule, cost, quality, and risk
  • Provide engineering support for electrical, instrumentation, and control systems, including troubleshooting and reliability improvements
  • Build a strong understanding of plant systems and processes to support sound technical decisions
  • Maintain required maintenance, compliance, and engineering documentation
  • Conduct engineering investigations and develop practical recommendations to reduce risk and improve performance
  • Integrate safety into every stage of design, planning, and execution
  • Identify hazards and critical risks, and support effective mitigation strategies
  • Ensure compliance with Rio Tinto engineering standards and governance requirements
  • Support Management of Change (MOC) processes for system modifications and upgrades
  • Develop and maintain engineering standards, drawings, specifications, and installation practices
  • Stay current with industry standards, legislation, and emerging technologies
  • Contribute to asset management systems that connect people, processes, technology, and performance
  • Participate in root cause and corrective action investigations
  • Identify and lead improvement opportunities that increase efficiency and reduce downtime
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and leadership to maintain a prioritized project portfolio with a two‑year outlook
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders and manage dependencies and expectations effectively
