Caterpillar Inc. seeks Senior Engineer-Design at its facility located at 875 W Cushing St, Tucson, AZ 85745. Develop systems or components to meet the requirements for machine programs to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability as well as address any continuous product improvement projects. Work closely with Machine Product groups to understand application requirements, analysis teams to develop system design, component selection, supplier quality and purchasing for supplier selection, quality, and cost. Communicate to effectively collaborate with various product development teams to deliver validated design solutions to Caterpillar's challenging Machine program deliverables and timelines simultaneously. Candidates must also manage their own development, continuously learning through experience and staying abreast of advancing technology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or a related field.
  • 6 years of experience as a Senior Design Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer, or related occupation.
  • Experience developing concept and production solutions to complex assemblies and modules.
  • Experience performing initial complex structural simulations to support concept down select.
  • 6 years of experience with component design & validation.
  • 5 years of experience in 3D design with CREO, Solidworks etc.
  • 3 years of component design and technical issue resolution.
  • 3 years of experience in NPI and APQP process.

Responsibilities

  • Develop systems or components to meet the requirements for machine programs.
  • Ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability.
  • Address continuous product improvement projects.
  • Work closely with Machine Product groups to understand application requirements.
  • Collaborate with analysis teams to develop system design and component selection.
  • Manage supplier quality and purchasing for supplier selection, quality, and cost.
  • Communicate effectively with various product development teams.
  • Deliver validated design solutions to meet challenging Machine program deliverables and timelines.
