About IPSD Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary: Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division seeks a Senior Engineer, Systems Integration in Mossville, IL to oversee the design and integration of 13L inline 6 diesel engine systems for Caterpillar machines and other commercial applications. The role includes end-to-end engine system design, manufacturing support, and post-production engineering, all performed in close collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

Requires an engineering degree from an accredited university. Preference in Agricultural or Mechanical Engineering
Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Working Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan. Contributes to short-term operational plans. Anticipates and adapts to plan changes. Monitors progress of work against plan as required to meet objectives.
Analytical Thinking: Extensive Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of technical problem-solving and creating alternative solutions that resolve these problems. Assists in building a complex prototype of product.

Responsibilities

Design C13D/2606 L4 complex engine systems including requirements definition, concept development, detailed design work, manufacturing support, and post-production ongoing engineering maintenance.
Serve as a technical mentor for engineers in the design, development, implementation, and optimization of engine configurations
Ownership of the complete engine system bill of material.
Work closely with a cross-functional team of experts in the engine component team, engine application integration team, engine development team, certification team, and software team to successfully take engine projects from concept to complete, certified engine
Provide engine system level technical leadership for Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Marketing, and Product Support
Additional responsibilities may include continuous product improvement (factory and field), technical problem solving, project timeline management, factory change planning and implementation, and cost reduction
