This is a hybrid role with the first three months requiring full-time presence in the office. The Senior Engineer, Commissioning is responsible for the development and implementation of plans and procedures for the testing and commissioning of highly complex transmission and distribution substation projects. This position collaborates closely with various groups, including Project Management & Construction, Protection & Controls Engineering, and Engineering & Design, to develop project test and commissioning plans. The focus is on ensuring safety and eliminating issues and errors during the testing and commissioning process. The role involves commissioning substation equipment as individual units, such as breakers and transformers, as well as overseeing the overall project commissioning, which includes controls, systems, relays, and metering. The essential functions of this position include assisting in the development of procedures for successful testing and commissioning of Transmission & Distribution (MV & HV) substation projects. The Senior Engineer is responsible for oversight to ensure that substation projects are successfully tested and commissioned in accordance with industry and company standards, with a strong emphasis on safety, human performance, and overall system reliability. This role also entails project test data review, collection, and acceptance, as well as accountability for root-cause analysis and the development and implementation of corrective actions related to project commissioning as needed. Additionally, the Senior Engineer will conduct project audits to ensure compliance with safety standards and work methods, collaborate effectively with other engineering and project management disciplines, support the development and training of less experienced team members, and may perform supervisory duties as assigned. The position may require work outside of normal business hours and travel between MA, CT, and NH as necessary.
