About The Position

It's fun to work in a company where people truly believe in what they are doing. At Dutch Bros Coffee, we are more than just a coffee company. We are a fun-loving, mind-blowing company that makes a difference one cup at a time. Position Overview: Dutch Bros is on a mission to make a massive difference one cup at a time. We're a high-growth, people-first company that values "love, acceptance, and kindness". Behind every cup we serve is a complex, scalable technology ecosystem that powers our shops, corporate systems, guest-facing applications, and data platforms. We’re seeking a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join the Platform Infrastructure team at Dutch Bros. This role is a senior individual contributor responsible for architecting, implementing, and scaling secure, automated, and cost-efficient cloud foundations across AWS and Azure. This engineer will be instrumental in building and maturing our multi-account, multi-cloud governance model - including AWS Control Tower, Service Catalog, SCPs, IAM role design, Azure governance frameworks, and automated account provisioning. The role requires deep hands - on expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), strong cloud security fundamentals, and experience building scalable hybrid networking environments. You will partner closely with Security, Application Engineering, Data, and IT Operations to deliver a resilient cloud platform that supports our rapid growing locations. In addition to hands-on delivery, you will mentor engineers, lead infrastructure design reviews, and drive cloud maturity through automation, observability, governance, and cost optimization. This role requires strong ownership, technical depth, and the ability to influence architecture and strategy across teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) with 8+ years in infrastructure, systems, or cloud engineering roles.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and operating AWS and Azure environments, including Linux and Windows server administration.
  • Proven experience designing multi-account AWS environments using Control Tower, SCPs, IAM roles, and Service Catalog.
  • Experience designing governance models in Azure (Management Groups, RBAC, policy enforcement).
  • Strong background in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
  • Experience implementing hybrid connectivity (VPN, firewalls, VPC design, routing, network segmentation).
  • Experience building secure IAM models with least privilege and RBAC.
  • Experience with FinOps cost optimization strategies and cloud financial governance
  • Experience working in compliance-driven environments, including PCI-DSS, vendor security assessments, and internal IT security controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and lead technical initiatives across teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate architectural decisions and trade-offs to cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Cloud Governance & Foundation Design and scale AWS and Azure cloud foundations, including multi-account architecture (Control Tower, Organizations), SCP guardrails, IAM governance, Azure Management Groups, and reusable Terraform blueprints to standardize and automate account provisioning.
  • Security & Compliance Automation Implement least-privilege IAM, policy-as-code, and automated compliance controls across cloud environments. Partner with Security to support audit readiness and reduce configuration drift and security findings.
  • Reliability & Resilience Establish monitoring, logging, and alerting standards; lead disaster recovery planning and testing; define and track SLAs/SLOs to ensure high availability and business continuity.
  • Automation & Platform Enablement Drive Infrastructure as Code and GitOps practices to reduce manual toil, enable self-service infrastructure, and streamline CI/CD integration for cloud deployments.
  • Cost Optimization & Scale Implement tagging and cost allocation frameworks; optimize compute, storage, and networking spend; support scalable cloud growth aligned with company expansion.
  • Technical Leadership & Mentorship Lead infrastructure design reviews, document best practices, mentor engineers, and influence long-term cloud architecture and governance strategy.
