Senior Engineer / Analyst for ISRT & BMC2 Applications

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics LaboratoryLaurel, MD
81d$100,000 - $227,500

About The Position

We are seeking a creative and expert engineer and/or quantitative analyst to lead our efforts to conceptualize, develop, test, assess, and field the next generation of ISRT, Counter-ISRT or BMC2 capabilities for the US military. Our engineers and analysts apply a wide-range of disciplines such as sensor and data fusion, signal and image processing, operations research, applied physics, and artificial intelligence to build systems that automatically or autonomously orchestrate sensors, process data into information, and make intelligent inferences and predictions about complex threats and environments. Our work enables the US military to neutralize a wider variety of serious threats from safer distances than they could otherwise accomplish; improves the safety, survivability, and effectiveness of US air, naval, and ground forces; and disrupts the ability of potential adversaries to threaten our forces.

Requirements

  • At least a Bachelor's degree in engineering, applied mathematics, computer science, physics, or another related field.
  • At least seven years of relevant experience in a technical field.
  • Expertise in remote sensing, signal and image processing, data fusion, statistical analysis, mathematical optimization, pattern recognition, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
  • Skills and experience developing engineering applications in programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C++, and Java and in Linux environments.
  • Domain knowledge in ISR processes, systems, platforms, and sensors used by the US military and intelligence community.
  • Strong inter-personal and written communications skills.
  • Skills and experience leading teams and complex technical efforts.
  • Ability to work and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task, support multiple, concurrent projects, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Willingness to work a portion of the time in secure, closed areas and travel occasionally to government sites and contractor facilities.
  • Hold an active Top Secret security clearance and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI level clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's or Doctorate degree in engineering, applied mathematics, computer science, physics, or another related field.
  • At least ten years of work experience in a relevant technical field.
  • Hold an active TS/SCI-level security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to teams developing algorithms, mathematical-physical models, and prototype software for ISRT and BMC2 applications.
  • Develop new signal processing, image processing, multi-sensor data fusion, and multi-sensor resource optimization techniques.
  • Develop new modeling, simulation, and analytical methods and tools.
  • Develop and analyze new ISRT concepts and architectures.
  • Lead and contribute to field tests and experiments, including planning, execution, and data analysis.
  • Document and present the team's results to managers, sponsors, and technical workshops and conferences.

Benefits

  • Generous benefits including a robust education assistance program.
  • Unparalleled retirement contributions.
  • Healthy work/life balance.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
