Sabre Systems is currently recruiting for a Senior Engineer (Acoustics & Sensors) to support the H-60 Multi-Mission Helicopters Program Office (PMA 299) at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. The candidate will be providing support to the Mission Systems Integrated Product Team (IPT). The candidate will provide technical leadership to identify, diagnose and resolve complex engineering issues focused on acoustics and sensors, to include but not limited to the Digital Magnetic Anomaly Detection (DMAD), the MH-60R Multi-Spectral Targeting System (MTS), the Forward Looking InfraRed (FLIR) system, and the AN/AQS-22 Airborne Low Frequency Sonar (ALFS) dipping sonar systems. The candidate will coordinate engineering support with NAVAIR’s engineering divisions, external field engineering facilities and test sites to ensure that engineering resources are applied to issues in a timely and effective manner to ensure effective program execution. The candidate will provide engineering support of these sensor systems and the evaluation of their technical performance, mission suitability and associated acquisition risks throughout the full acquisition process and lifecycle of a program.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in the area of engineering expertise.
  • Applies engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan and design, develop, implement, test, or evaluate military weapons systems.
  • Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation.
  • Applies systems engineering experience to perform functions such as system integration, configuration management, quality assurance testing, or acquisition and resource management.
  • Analyzes, designs, develops, implements, tests, or evaluates software, components, or systems related to engineering or functional requirements of military aircraft weapons systems, associated support systems.
  • Must hold a Technical or Scientific MS or MA degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Allowable substitution: Must hold a Technical or Scientific BS or BA degree from an accredited college or university and must have an additional four (4) years of recent and relevant experience.
  • Must have at least ten (10) years of recent and relevant experience in an engineering position, three (3) of which must be directly related to DoD systems.
  • Must have demonstrated experience in an area of engineering expertise.
  • Must have demonstrated experience with concentrate on acoustics and sensor systems engineering, including technologies such as magnetic anomaly detection, electro-optical/infrared targeting systems, and airborne sonar.
  • Must have a strong background in systems integration, testing, and evaluation of mission systems within a DoD or Naval Aviation environment.
  • Must have experience preparing and reviewing engineering documentation, specifications, and technical risk assessments for acoustics or sensor systems.
  • Must have or be able to obtain an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher.
