About The Position

The Senior Engagement Leader will work in Williams Adley’s Strategic Advisory Services Department on a contract with the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) to provide year-round accounting support services. The Senior Engagement Leader leads a team of twelve (12) professionals, including accountants, financial analysts, and accounting system support specialists who maintain, analyze, and produce FHA’s accounting records under Federal Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (FedGAAP) and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and Treasury requirements. They will report directly to the Partner. The Senior Engagement Leader is expected to perform assignments with minimal supervision where procedures have been established, know when to consult with the Partner on complex tasks or contractual matters, and refer to federal regulations, contract requirements, and other written directives as necessary.

Requirements

  • 10 or more years of relevant federal work experience including at least 5 years of FedGAAP accounting experience (adjusting entries, roll-forwards, monthly/quarterly close, reconciliations, financial statement preparation, reporting, and assistance with MD&A reports) and at least 5 years of experience managing accounting teams and overseeing project delivery.
  • Demonstrated success managing projects of similar size and complexity, to include: Presenting weekly status of tasks to the client Providing daily interaction with team, assignment of tasks and review of work Analyzing financial statements via trends and ratios Researching and resolving variances between proprietary and budgetary USSGL account balances and suggesting improvements Reviewing financial transactions to ensure compliance with standards Assisting clients eliminate or improve auditor-noted material weaknesses and reportable conditions
  • Working experience and understanding of Treasury guidance, GAAP, OMB Circulars, FASAB and FASB pronouncements.
  • Proficient knowledge of Federal budgetary accounting
  • Understanding of crosswalks between multiple source systems, criteria, and other factors that populate transactions in the general ledger
  • Demonstrated success using technology & software, to include: Hands-on experience with major ERP platforms such as Oracle or SAP High-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to build, maintain, and audit complex models using Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, macros, and data visualization techniques Demonstrated experience with business intelligence (BI) tools like Tableau or Power BI for data analysis and reporting Ability to use digital tools to automate financial data gathering, validate entries, and perform variance analysis (budget-to-actuals)
  • Experience identifying inefficient processes and implementing technological solutions to enhance productivity
  • Must be able to develop strong rapport with client and communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with individuals at all levels
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams in the attainment of goals
  • Must have bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • Must be able to obtain an FHA security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily oversight of accounting, financial analysis, and Oracle (PeopleSoft) system support in accordance with federal regulations and contract requirements.
  • Responsible for client management, communication management, scope management, quality management, and meeting all contract deliverables.
  • Provide advisory services to FHA in support of special projects or in response to new standards, incorporating the use of AI and other technology/software tools when appropriate, to increase efficiency.
  • Responsible for the supervision and management of Williams Adley and subcontractor personnel.
