Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in energy engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience with DER program models, including new construction, industrial processes, and electrification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and accepted engineering practices.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR).

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree (MS) in Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as PE (Professional Engineer), CEM (Certified Energy Manager), or PMP (Project Management Professional).
  • Recognized subject matter expertise in energy engineering, with a history of innovation and creative problem-solving.
  • Experience in cost estimation, proposal development, and understanding of financial principles related to project profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the analysis and resolution of complex engineering challenges using advanced technical judgment and data-driven methodologies.
  • Apply 5–8 years of professional experience in energy engineering, including a minimum of 3 years working directly with DER technologies such as variable frequency drives (VFDs), lighting systems, building controls, demand response (DR), and photovoltaic (PV) systems.
  • Conduct large-scale data analysis, measurement and verification (M&V) planning and execution, and whole-building energy modeling using industry-standard tools such as EnergyPro, eQuest, and EnergyPlus.
  • Ensure all technical work complies with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders at both regional and national levels, contributing to technical working groups and presenting findings in professional settings.
  • Manage technical aspects of project planning and execution, including scope definition, budget development, and timeline tracking.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in coordination with clients and internal business development teams.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and interns, fostering professional growth and knowledge transfer.
