About The Position

Berkley Renewable Energy, a division of Berkley Oil & Gas, is seeking a qualified candidate for the Senior Energy Account Executive - Renewable Energy position. This role is crucial for the profitable management of a casualty book of business, including the underwriting of new and renewal accounts consistent with business unit appetite and underwriting guidelines. The candidate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with brokers and agents, managing agency profitability, and marketing responsibilities for assigned territories, including strategic growth initiatives. The position requires extensive collaboration across the organization with risk services, claims, actuarial, finance/accounting, and IT. Travel is required to maintain strong relationships with agents and customers.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years as a casualty lines underwriter, preferably within the renewable energy space.
  • Advanced analytical skills to interpret business information from multiple sources.
  • Strong decision-making skills to execute on the underwriting intent and develop a profitable book of business.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to build and manage relationships with agents, brokers, customers, and other employees.
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance coverage, products, rating and pricing techniques.
  • Excellent negotiation and marketing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Solid computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office products.
  • Prior field marketing experience with agents, brokers, and customer meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the profitable management of a casualty book of business.
  • Underwriting of new and renewal accounts consistent with business unit appetite and underwriting guidelines.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with brokers and agents.
  • Managing agency profitability.
  • Marketing responsibilities for assigned territories, including strategic growth initiatives.
  • Possessing a strong understanding of policy language and coverage interpretation.
  • Conducting contractual risk transfer analysis, loss analysis, and underwriting compliance.
  • Collaborating extensively across the organization with risk services, claims, actuarial, finance/accounting, and IT.
  • Traveling as needed to maintain strong relationships with agents and customers.
