About The Position

The Senior Embryologist at Oregon Health & Science University will conduct advanced research on gametes, embryos, and pluripotent stem cells, focusing on translating innovative technologies into human applications. This role involves overseeing research projects, mentoring teams, and managing core operations in embryology, while also contributing to scientific publications and grant proposals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related field AND 5 years of experience with assisted reproductive technology.
  • Master's degree can substitute for 2 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Preimplantation Genetic Screening (PGS) required within six months of hire.
  • PhD in Developmental Biology, Genetics, or Molecular Biology.
  • 5+ years of clinical IVF experience.
  • 7 years of relevant research experience in a laboratory setting with a background in embryology, reproductive/molecular/cellular biology, animal physiology, or endocrinology research.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years of clinical IVF experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct proof-of-concept research on mouse and nonhuman primate gametes, embryos, and pluripotent stem cells.
  • Translate promising technologies and novel therapeutics concepts to human gametes, embryos, and stem cells.
  • Plan, develop, and implement research projects consistent with the CECGT research portfolio.
  • Train and mentor clinical and research IVF teams.
  • Manage clinical research projects in embryology.
  • Establish and maintain novel techniques and equipment.
  • Manage experimental worksheets and databases for research.
  • Procure and store donated human gametes and embryos for research.
  • Analyze research data and write manuscripts and progress reports.
  • Present research accomplishments at conferences and assist with writing grant proposals.
  • Oversee day-to-day animal and human embryology core operations.
  • Provide guidance to postdocs, students, trainees, and research staff.
  • Assist in planning experiments and developing new techniques and assays in the laboratory.
  • Develop detailed protocols and SOPs.
