The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit.   • Design, develop, and test embedded software for mission-critical spacecraft systems
  • Architect and implement real-time embedded software solutions for spacecraft control systems, propulsion, and payload interfaces
  • Develop and maintain platform software including drivers, middleware/IO, and communication protocols
  • Create and execute verification and validation procedures for mission-critical embedded systems in compliance with industry standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, systems engineers, and mission operations
  • Implement robust fault detection, isolation, and recovery mechanisms for spacecraft systems
  • Optimize software for resource-constrained environments, balancing performance with reliability
  • Contribute to technical documentation, including requirements, design specifications, and test procedures
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on complex projects
  • Support integration and testing activities during spacecraft assembly and pre-launch operations
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field
  • 7+ years of professional experience in embedded software development
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS)
  • Experience with microcontroller peripherals (ADC, DAC, I2C, SPI, UART, etc.)
  • Familiarity with debugging tools and techniques for embedded systems (JTAG, SWD, GDB)
  • Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Knowledge of software development for mission-critical systems
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with embedded Linux development and Yocto
  • Experience with Python for test automation and development tools
  • Knowledge of communication protocols used in spacecraft systems
  • Experience with bare-metal programming for microcontrollers
