About The Position

If you are an experienced Embedded Development Operations professional looking for an opportunity to influence technology direction and drive transformation, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Shakopee, MN location, you will serve as a technical leader guiding DevOps strategy, architecture, and execution for embedded device firmware within the Cross Portfolio, Technology and Innovation (CPTI) organization. This position requires expertise in DevOps practices and embedded C/C++ firmware development environments.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps and embedded software development
  • Proficient in C/C++ & Azure DevOps tools and practices
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States (no sponsorship available).

Nice To Haves

  • Expert-level proficiency with Azure DevOps, including pipelines, repos, artifacts, and automated workflow orchestration.
  • Extensive experience with embedded build systems (specifically C/C++), cross compilers, and toolchain configuration.
  • Demonstrated leadership in driving DevOps initiatives or leading complex technical projects.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Certifications in DevOps engineering and/or software/system security.
  • Experience with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, and diverse pipeline ecosystems.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and evolve CI/CD pipelines purpose‑built for embedded firmware development, automated testing, and secure delivery workflows.
  • Define and champion DevOps standards, driving adoption of modern build, integration, and automated release practices across CPTI embedded platforms.
  • Partner with Firmware Design, Hardware Engineering, and Product Management to ensure DevOps capabilities align with platform requirements—enabling faster, more predictable firmware delivery.
  • Mentor developers and early‑career DevOps engineers to strengthen DevOps maturity and consistent best practices across engineering teams.
  • Establish robust configuration and artifact management strategies for embedded software and firmware assets.
  • Monitor and optimize pipeline performance, improving build stability, test coverage, and end-to-end throughput.
  • Support regulatory and compliance‑based requirements for firmware release processes (IEC 62443, CRA, and related standards).
