About The Position

The Senior Eligibility Specialist position at Stearns County involves training Eligibility Specialists and conducting quality control reviews to ensure the integrity of public assistance programs. Requirements

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Two years of post-secondary formal education in public assistance programs, business, finance, or a similar field and three years of experience in a federal, state, or county human services agency OR seven years of experience as an Eligibility Specialist.

Nice To Haves

• Currently employed as an Eligibility Specialist or a Financial Worker.
• Comprehensive working knowledge of Medical Assistance for Long-Term Care Services (MA-LTC).

Responsibilities

• Designs, schedules and performs initial and ongoing technical training for public assistance programs.
• Serves as a resource for Eligibility Specialists and represents Stearns County Human Services as a mentor.
• Completes quality control reviews to determine eligibility accuracy and assists State and Federal Auditors.
• Assesses and processes Fraud Prevention Investigation Referrals.
• Reviews appeal requests and represents the agency at appeal hearings.
• Participates in policy interpretation requests and implements policy changes.
• Assesses employee training progress and provides input to supervisors.
• Assists with providing education to community groups on public assistance programs.
• Covers client caseloads to maintain knowledge of public assistance programs.
• Attends work regularly and performs other duties as assigned.
