About The Position

Our Space Systems business designs and builds our extensive line of satellites, payloads, and their components, including spacecraft that have been selected to support NASA missions to the Moon and Mars and components used on the James Webb Space Telescope. FACILITIES Rocket Lab’s Facilities team is responsible for maintenance, operations, and improvements projects across our locations, making sure that the facilities our teams use every day are well looked after and operating as they should. SENIOR ELECTRICIAN The role of Senior Electrician is key to enabling the construction and maintenance of Neutron Production and Test facilities to support a timely build of Neutron launch vehicles. This will be SSC’s first full time electrical role – this is an exciting opportunity for an individual to This role will be part of a tight-knit team of technicians that will lead the build, machinery startups, test, operation, and maintenance of both the Neutron production facilities and Neutron ground system assets.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma + GED and Journeyman Qualification or higher.
  • 8+ years’ experience in industrial electrical systems and instrumentation.
  • Proven ability to read, understand and follow detailed schematics, drawings and instructions
  • Experience with instrumentation installation, commissioning and troubleshooting
  • Practical hands-on wiring and troubleshooting of control systems, including PLC’s.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with basic maintenance and repair of generators and UPS Systems
  • Understanding of fluid systems – e.g. pneumatic, hydraulics
  • Experience within aerospace production, test or launch environment

Responsibilities

  • Play a crucial role in the building and installing electrical, instrumentation and controls subsystems on the test and production facilities.
  • Contribute to workflow/best practices for facility maintenance.
  • Ensure tasks are completed on time and to quality standards
  • Provide support on operations as needed to support launch ops Integration
  • Fit out, assembly and installation of launch pad systems including:
  • Electrical and control panels, instrumentation and supporting systems
  • Routing, design, and installation of cable tray and install conduit
  • Troubleshooting electrical issues as needed
  • Work with greater Rocket Lab manufacturing and integration teams in Auckland, New Zealand; Long Beach, CA; and Wallops Island, VA.
