Boston Scientific is looking for a Sr R&D Engineer that will focus on early-stage prototyping, developing, and optimizing new design solutions for catheter-based Therapeutic Ultrasound Technology. This is an exciting opportunity to join the growing Research and Development team in Boston Scientific's Renal Denervation Organization. In this role, you'll work on a wide variety of challenging and rewarding new product development activities focused on bringing new and impactful therapies to patients around the globe. We are seeking a motivated and results-driven individual with strong technical fundamentals, a creative approach to problem-solving, and the ability to execute in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment.

  • Develop test plans, execute experiments, analyze data, and present findings.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align design, manufacturing, and quality requirements.
  • Lead project tasks from early prototyping through design verification.
  • Contribute to intellectual property development and innovation efforts.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and implement robust engineering solutions.
  • Develop new test methods to characterize ultrasonic output and to assess therapeutic effects.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Biomedical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Required minimum years of work experience (primarily in medical device or related field): 5+ Years with BS, 3+ Years with MS.
  • Background in experimental design, data analysis, and communicating technical findings.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals and track record of sound technical judgment.
  • Self-driven, with a creative approach to solving complex engineering problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute and follow through on project responsibilities.
  • Team-oriented mindset that thrives in a collaborative environment.
  • Good organizational, communication and collaboration skills.
  • PhD in Mechanical, Biomedical, or Electrical Engineering with emphasis in areas of therapeutic or diagnostic ultrasound.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand clinical application and translate to design features and requirements.
  • Experience designing, prototyping, and implementing innovative solutions for medical applications.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables effectively.
  • Experience designing catheter based medical devices that involve RF or Ultrasound energy delivery, or electronic based diagnostics.
  • Experience with ultrasound transducer test methods (hydrophone scanning, force balance, electrical impedance, pulse echo, etc.)
  • Familiarity with DFM principles, design controls, quality systems, and the product development lifecycle (PLCP).
