Zipline is on a mission to transform the way goods move, aiming to solve the world's most urgent access challenges through an instant delivery and logistics system. The Avionics team is responsible for designing robust systems that control Zipline's drone delivery service in challenging environments. This role involves delivering high-performance flight computers, communication, and navigation systems that are integrated into the vehicle, with a focus on low mass, low cost, and high reliability. The position requires rigorous design engineering and validation to support Zipline's goal of expanding deliveries from 100,000 to 100 million globally.

  • Own the design validation and test planning efforts for avionics products, including design validation and manufacturing test.
  • Develop a deep understanding of components under test and become a subject matter expert in their behavior under various conditions.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and external vendors to deploy high-quality test plans and systems in a timely manner.
  • Drive end-to-end test campaigns from development through design validation, certification, and production.
  • Triage and root-cause field failures using data analysis and test heritage.
  • Support certification testing to enable aircraft to fly in real-world conditions.
  • 5+ years of experience in EE test engineering roles, with manufacturing test, system performance testing, certification, and design validation experience.
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Past test engineering experience in sensors and electronics for critical systems in automotive, aerospace, transportation, or medical devices.
  • Experience in test asset design validation for high-volume production environments.
  • Experience developing test plans, requirements, standards, and criteria for hardware products, PCBA's, and sensors.
  • Proficient in Python, Linux environments, and scripting languages such as Bash or Shell.
  • Clear communication skills to explain technical challenges and solutions.
  • Enthusiasm for collaborating in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
