About The Position

As a Senior Electrical Technician, you will be responsible for fabricating, installing, repairing, and maintaining critical electrical components across a variety of systems. You will work with several teams to create controls equipment and be a key link between these teams in perpetuating a culture of good communication. Your activities will directly support the mission of achieving net facility gain, as such there is an expectation that this role will participate in the continued technical and professional growth that is required to achieve this goal. This position is primarily based in San Leandro, CA. Traveling will be required to support installation and commissioning activities in Albuquerque, NM.

Requirements

  • 10+ years with deep hands-on assembly/testing background
  • Experienced in wiring, soldering, cabinet building, and cable routing (including fine gauge like 36 AWG)
  • Familiar with detailed schematics, clean labeling practices, component traceability
  • Knowledge of UL 508A, NFPA 70, control systems, complex signal types (TCP/IP, EtherCAT, Serial, etc.)
  • Hands on experience with industrial, manufacturing, or research facility commissioning and operations
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, build/test/iterate environment

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or technical degree
  • Experience with PLC(Programmable Logic Controllers) or IPC(Industrial PC’s)
  • EPLAN( any CAD platform) experience
  • Experience working in a startup
  • Experience working in industries such as: fusion, energy, aerospace, chemical
  • Experience working closely with engineers, designers and technicians

Responsibilities

  • Build Electrical Control cabinets (wall mount, free standing, Rack server enclosures)
  • Build complex cable harness fabrication
  • Schematic interpretation and ability to recognize and understand diagnostics
  • Implement best practices with signal routing and cable shielding techniques
  • Integrate electrical components into large mechanical assemblies
  • Work with large and complex systems including but not limited to vacuum systems
  • Perform configuration as required of controls equipment
  • Help document and maintain configurations of controls equipment
  • Support Terminations, commissioning and troubleshooting activities
  • Support start-up and commissioning of equipment
  • Role is expected to have minimal guidance and supervision, and an expectation of independence to perform job duties
