About The Position

As an electrical system engineer, you will work with a team of electrical engineers through the program life cycle to develop electronic products for various complex, high precision, and high reliability applications. The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers’ missions. Requirements

  • BS or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 4 or more years related experience.
  • Robust problem solving, decision making, and closure skills to ensure mission success.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate complex concepts to widely varying audiences.
  • Demonstrated behaviors of a systems thinker.
  • Working knowledge of interface and design documentation.
  • Detailed design experience in analog circuit, digital circuits, FPGA, PCB Layout, and electronics packaging.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in creating and delivering aerospace electronics systems and subsystems.
  • Experience in creating and delivering space-based electronics systems and subsystems.
  • Technical competence in ROIC photodetector arrays, motor drives, general analog circuitry, FPGA closed loop control, DC-DC conversion and power distribution.
  • Analytical experience with WCA and Part Stress.
  • Experience through the entire system lifecycle from concept, design, production, integration.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for a multidisciplinary system team including suppliers to create, influence and define discriminating electronics solutions.
  • Work with subject matter experts to define space-based electronics systems and components.
  • Lead resolution of electrical hardware anomalies at the system level and determine root cause and corrective action.
  • Compose objective, quantifiable trade studies incorporating heritage system designs as well as new technologies.
  • Electrical system-level modeling and simulation, analysis, trades, risk assessment, requirements derivation, allocation, and flow down.
  • Maintain end-to-end electrical compatibility, functional allocations, and margins across entire system.
  • Hands-on involvement in every aspect of design, development, production, and test.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks early in the design phase.
  • Present analysis, findings, and design to peers, internal management, and customers throughout program phases.
  • Develop electronics to quality and reliability standards for NASA, NOAA, DoD, and classified customers.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department and the company.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
