About The Position

As a Senior Electrical Lead Engineer in the Generator and Electrical Systems (GES) team, one is expected to drive the design, analysis, and optimization of plant electrical systems across the gas power portfolio. You will support the full lifecycle from concept to commissioning, strengthen standardization efforts, contribute to issue resolution, mentor early career engineers, and serve as the technical anchor for the GES organization in North America. The role also requires close collaboration with suppliers, site teams, and global engineering to consistently maintain the highest standards of safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s (BS) or Master’s (MS) degree in electrical or power systems engineering or a related field.
  • 10 to 12 years of experience in Power Plant Electrical Systems engineering or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze electrical components across the gas power product portfolio (i.e. projects having both EQ and Extended scopes).
  • Serve as the primary technical anchor for the Generator and Electrical Systems organization on North America projects, supporting all key interactions from OTR release through CKOM while also guiding new team members in building both technical and professional capabilities.
  • Develop equipment and system calculations, specifications, and drawings needed for balance of plant engineering in gas and steam turbine power plants.
  • Coordinate extensively with architect engineering firms, engineering consultants, construction partners, and equipment suppliers.
  • Manage project financial performance by monitoring Estimation at Completion, ensuring delivery within budget, and providing accurate projections across active projects.
  • Conduct testing and validation of new and existing designs and interpret post test data.
  • Create design documentation including drawings, specifications, layouts, and diagrams.
  • Prepare functional specifications based on sizing studies, contractual requirements, and applicable regulatory codes and standards such as IEC, NEC, CSA, IECEx, and ATEX.
  • Act as the engineering focal for new qualifications supporting GE Vernova and supplier production.
  • Perform root cause analysis and develop corrective and preventive actions to enhance reliability, quality, and performance.
  • Support supplier design evaluations and review technical offers for compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams, interpret single line diagrams, and develop wiring, loop, instrumentation, and schematic diagrams while applying electrical design principles to strengthen system performance.
  • Take technical ownership of assigned electrical hardware and systems.
  • Contribute to project execution and process improvement within team environments.
  • Participate in peer and design reviews and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including Controlled Title Holders, analysis experts, and global sites.
  • Comply with research and development processes, manage milestones, and seek peer validation as required.
  • Support tendering activities with calculations, assessments, and technical recommendations.
  • Apply Lean principles and lead continuous improvement efforts.
