Requirements

  • B.S in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience working on complex electrical systems or electronics designs.
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals and ability to apply them to automotive concepts.
  • Proven debugging and diagnostic skills in electrical, mechanical, and software domains.
  • Proven ability to develop traceable electrical hardware and system level requirements from high-level features to implementation specifications.
  • Experience with creating and executing component and system level test procedures.
  • Experience with requirements capture in requirements management software platforms (JAMA, etc).
  • Excellent teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team.
  • A systems approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, signal generators, power supplies, etc.).
  • Experience with hardware definition and integration of chassis and/or thermal electronics.
  • Experience with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA).
  • Experience with electrical / electro-mechanical devices involving networked microcontrollers and embedded software.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of hardware systems integration across various vehicle subsystems.
  • Responsible for the complete end-to-end integration of hardware components, focusing on subsystems such as chassis, thermal, body, safety, and lighting.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support product design, vehicle behaviors definition, prototype bring-up, and debugging.
  • Ensure the seamless functionality and performance of all systems throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Conceptualize, design, engineer, and support the launch of next-generation vehicle platform architectures for electric vehicles.
  • Develop electrical hardware and system requirements for various subsystems and components, ensuring traceability from high-level features to hardware implementation specifications.
  • Work cross-functionally with component owners across the organization to drive optimal electrical system designs that satisfy electrical architecture requirements.
  • Review and approve test plans and results to ensure low voltage interface compatibility and component requirement compliance.
  • Contribute to the development and validation of electrical architecture, performing trade studies to realize efficient design strategies, and optimize for cost, mass, performance, and serviceability.
  • Own electrical subsystem interface documentation, collaborating with hardware and EDS teams to ensure accurate logical and physical implementation and seamless integration.
  • Support functional safety analyses and decomposition of complex vehicle subsystems, create functional boundary diagrams and system interface specifications.
  • Manage design and integration of initial prototype systems including bring-up, debug, and engineering test of prototype bucks, labcars, and vehicles.
