About The Position

This position is responsible for performing and supervising electrical inspections to ensure compliance with codes, ordinances, and regulations. Responsibilities may include inspecting electrical components; supervising staff; and preparing inspection reports.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree and 3 years of related experience; or, all required certification(s) and 3 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Journeyman Electrician License
  • Act 407 Certification or obtain within 6 months of employment
  • Valid State of Michigan Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • May supervise staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; coordinating staff training; and supporting personnel procedures.
  • Conducts and supervises inspections of electrical wiring, fixtures, and related equipment to ensure compliance with codes, ordinances, and regulations; conducts tests of electrical components to ensure compliance with codes.
  • May prepare documents for court cases regarding violations.
  • Prepares reports outlining inspection findings and recommendations; maintains inspection records to ensure accuracy of information.
  • Responds to electrical regulation and related inquiries from the public, engineers, contractors, and others.
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance, including attendance at required meetings.
