Senior Electrical Engineering Designer assists in coordination of engineering projects and helps oversee the phases of design. This positional also helps ensure the successful execution of projects. This role involves performing engineering calculations, interpreting drawings and specifications, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams. Key Technical Skills Required: Advanced experience supporting clean energy engineering projects, including utility-scale solar PV, battery energy storage (BESS), and other renewable generation facilities from concept development through IFC design packages. Development of detailed electrical design deliverables including one-line diagrams, protection and control (P&C) drawings, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and equipment layouts for power generation and interconnection projects. Ability to perform and support engineering calculations such as load summaries, cable sizing, equipment selection, and integration of electrical study outputs into design documents. Strong understanding of interconnection requirements and the interface between clean generation facilities and utility transmission and substation systems. Coordination with Transmission and Substation engineering teams to align collector systems, interconnection substations, grounding strategies, protection schemes, and utility compliance requirements. Ability to coordinate across multidisciplinary teams to support successful project execution and integrated delivery of clean energy and power delivery infrastructure. Experience interpreting engineering drawings, client standards, and technical specifications to develop coordinated and constructible design packages. Familiarity with electrical system study tools and outputs, including PSCAD and PSLCAD, along with load flow, short circuit, and relay coordination analysis, and the ability to translate study results into practical design solutions. Proficiency using AutoCAD and/or Bentley MicroStation for engineering design production and drawing development. Working knowledge of substation physical design principles including equipment arrangement, conduit routing, grounding, cable systems, and constructability considerations. Experience supporting multiple phases of design, including conceptual development, detailed engineering, IFR/IFC packages, construction support, and as-built updates. Field coordination experience includes testing, energization, commissioning, and site walkdowns for clean energy or power delivery projects. Knowledge of applicable codes and standards including IEEE, NEC, ANSI, and utility-specific design criteria. Experience mentoring junior engineers and designers, providing technical guidance and supporting professional development to strengthen team capability and engineering quality.
