About The Position
The Senior Electrical Engineer at Dartmouth College plays a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the engineering office, which is part of the Facilities Operations and Management (FO&M) department. This position is supervised by the Engineering Design Manager and is responsible for providing high-quality engineering services across a variety of projects and clients. The engineer will collaborate with Project Managers on in-house design and renovation projects, work closely with FO&M shops on system upgrades, improvements, replacements, and operations and maintenance (O&M) procedures. Additionally, the engineer will assist in the design and analysis of energy efficiency projects and provide technical oversight for projects designed by outside consultants. Key responsibilities include conducting design reviews, performing field investigations, assessing existing systems, and designing electrical, lighting, and lighting control systems. The engineer will also be involved in equipment selection and specification, drafting, code review, calculations, and writing control system sequences of operation. Other duties include construction administration and commissioning services, ensuring that all projects comply with Dartmouth College's design and construction guidelines, energy performance guidelines, and relevant building codes. The Senior Electrical Engineer will also act as the Owner's Engineer, providing oversight of consultants involved in studying, designing, constructing, and commissioning new construction and renovation projects. This includes checking designs and installations for compliance with established guidelines and regulations, attending project meetings, and conducting design and submittal reviews.
