About The Position

Zel Technologies has an immediate opening a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead and support the design, development, integration, and testing of advanced electrical and electronics systems for unmanned systems (UxS).

Requirements

  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in the development and implementation of electrical or electronics systems.
  • Must have an active SECRET clearance.
  • Successful background and drug screening check.

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years of experience in supporting unmanned systems programs, to include one or more of the following: operations, maintenance, design, research, development, experimentation, and/or testing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical engineering support for UxS advanced technology development, including the development of system architectures and requirements in accordance with applicable Navy standards.
  • Lead the design and development of electrical and electronic system architectures for UxS platforms and subsystems, including vehicle control, power conversion/distribution, and sensor integration.
  • Perform system and subsystem analyses, design, and trade off studies, and draft and review related documentation including electrical and mechanical schematics, test plans and procedures, technical data packages, requirements traceability and verification.
  • Develop test plans, procedures, and configurations for lab, field, and at-sea testing of electrical and power systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues at the board, subsystem, and system level in both lab and operational environments.
  • Support the development of vehicle control, power control, power conversion, and power distribution systems, including interface control to input sources and output loads.
  • Oversee integration of electrical systems with mechanical, software, and communication subsystems.
  • Interface with fabrication and prototyping teams to ensure manufacturability and quality of electrical builds.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on the integration of various primary/secondary energy source technologies including battery cells, air independent fuel cells, and renewable ocean energy harvesters.
