The Senior Electrical Engineer serves as a key technical support resource for large capital projects across North American manufacturing facilities. This role provides engineering guidance and plant-level support for electrical systems, including PLC and HMI upgrades, integration, and troubleshooting, ensuring standardization, reliability, and alignment with existing site architectures. The Senior Electrical Engineer collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are executed safely and delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. Responsibilities include supporting capital projects and plant upgrades through basic and detailed electrical design, machinery and utilities specification, equipment cost estimation, supplier selection and management, equipment installation, commissioning, and startup. This role plays a critical part in maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and electrical infrastructure while driving continuous improvement and modernization initiatives across regional facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, develop, and maintain electrical schematics in accordance with company and industry standards
  • Proven capability to independently troubleshoot, resolve, and document complex industrial automation and electrical system issues.
  • Working knowledge of RSLogix500, RSLogix5, RSLogix5000, Studio 5000, Factory Talk View Studio, Panel Builder32
  • Experience with Ultraware, DriveExecutive, and AB Power Flex drives.
  • Experience with DC drives, motors and Servos.
  • Experience administrating Rockwell Securities
  • Experience with various capacitive and inductive sensors, transducers, thermocouples and RTDs.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented with ability to excel in a cross-cultural, global team environment.
  • Possesses professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience in creating technical solutions.
  • Proven experience in project management and risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior technical resource supporting large capital projects across North American manufacturing facilities, with a focus on electrical and industrial automation systems
  • Develop electrical requirements, equipment layouts, and control system architectures to support new equipment installations and plant upgrades
  • Design, develop, and integrate PLC and HMI systems, ensuring seamless connectivity with existing architectures
  • Support capital project planning by preparing project timelines, technical justifications, benefit analyses, capital cost estimates, and schedules
  • Identify, evaluate, and select equipment suppliers. Collaborate with Purchasing and plant teams to ensure alignment with cost, schedule, and performance objectives
  • Develop, review, and refine detailed electrical and control system specifications in collaboration with suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Maintain and update corporate electrical standards and specifications to ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and internal governance guidelines
  • Administer and manage Rockwell AssetCentre for the Americas region, including control system asset management and documentation
  • Develop and maintain electrical schematics and documentation using AutoCAD, ensuring accurate version control and centralized data storage
  • Provide hands-on support for plant electrical, PLC, HMI, and automation troubleshooting as required
  • Develop and deliver electrical troubleshooting and PLC programming training to plant maintenance and engineering teams across the region
