About The Position

We are seeking a technically strong and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer to help guide the design, construction, and operations of Colovore’s high-density data centers. This is a leadership role responsible for overseeing multidisciplined design teams across new developments, commissioning, capacity expansions, and existing site operations. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with end-to-end design/bid/build and design-build construction of data center power systems, commissioning, and operational site support. As a member of the Design & Engineering team you will collaborate closely with Land Acquisition, Construction, and Facility Operations teams to ensure data center electrical systems are reliable, cost-effective, and efficient in alignment with Colovore’s high-performance standards.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of concurrently maintainable, high-availability electric power systems and electrical infrastructure in mission-critical environments.
  • Ability to perform and analyze engineering calculations (short-circuit, voltage drop, real/reactive power capacity, PUE, overcurrent settings).
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and submittals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose system issues and recommend solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for interfacing with internal stakeholders, external consultants, vendors, and contractors.
  • Ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines and construction/operations functions.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, CYMCAP, and SKM/ETAP.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation habits, and project follow-through.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple ongoing projects.
  • Minimum 7 years of electrical engineering experience in data center design & construction.
  • Hands-on experience leading and executing electrical system design, construction administration, commissioning, and operations support.
  • Familiarity with NFPA, ANSI/IEEE, UL, and IEC standards, building codes, and electrical engineering best practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related electrical discipline

Nice To Haves

  • EIT or PE preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical System Design & Analysis
  • Support the design and specification of data center electrical infrastructure, including power distribution systems, engine-generators, UPS systems, and automated power transfer systems.
  • Oversee electrical system design and implementation including review of MEP engineering consultant designs, calculations, sequence of operations, power system studies (short-circuit, coordination, arc flash, thermal ampacity), and verification of controls compliance with Owner Project Requirements (OPR).
  • Assist in developing data hall layouts including modular IT Pod configurations, PDU power weaves, RPP striping, IT rack power whip distribution, and coordination with multiple cooling distribution options including overhead piping and under floor systems (raised access floors), fan wall galleries, in-room CRAHs, etc.
  • Review Revit models, design drawings, and submittals for accuracy and constructability.
  • Design Support for Development & Construction
  • Lead external architectural, civil/structural, and MEP engineering teams during site selection, design development, and permitting.
  • Support construction teams with RFI responses, design clarifications, installation oversight, and electrical construction QA/QC.
  • Participate in factory witness testing, commissioning, and integrated systems testing for new builds and retrofits.
  • Help evaluate vendor proposals and equipment specifications to ensure alignment with performance requirements.
  • Manage as-constructed Revit models for Colovore internal use including development of digital twins.
  • Operations Support & System Optimization
  • Support operations teams in troubleshooting, tuning, and optimizing electrical systems across active data centers.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and recommend corrective actions for electrical issues or performance deviations.
  • Analyze operational data to identify efficiency improvements, reliability enhancements, and capacity-planning insights.
  • Assist in drafting, updating, and reviewing Methods of Procedure (MOPs) related to electrical system operation and maintenance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers, Controls Engineers, and Operations Teams to ensure electrical system integration and operational effectiveness.
  • Work with Development, Finance, and Business Units to provide electrical design input for feasibility studies and cost models.
  • Support sustainability initiatives, energy-efficiency improvements, and innovation in high-density power distribution and cooling approaches.
  • Documentation & Reporting
  • Write, update and maintain electrical system documentation, including Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR), engineering specifications, record (as-built) design documents, equipment vendor information, factory test and commissioning test results, and system performance analyses.
  • Prepare technical reports, engineering summaries, and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure all electrical engineering work aligns with regulatory, code, safety, and security compliance requirements.
