About The Position

Position Summary: The Senior Electrical Engineer will work cooperatively with Vuzix team members on the Electrical and other engineering disciplines to deliver complex circuit designs for smart glasses and head-mounted display (HMD) products. Vuzix values individuals that are self-motivated to solve challenges and have a can-do attitude. This position will also support the functions of the R&D – Electrical Department to meet the requirements of the relevant ISO 9001:2015 standards based on the quality objectives established by Top Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical field.
  • 6 years’ experience in a relevant technical field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief effectively to peers and leadership.
  • Experience with hardware design from concept to implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and debugging high-speed designs.
  • Understanding of hardware / software interfaces.
  • Experience with CAD software (e.g. Altium Designer, Cadence, OrCAD, etc.) for schematic and layout design.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with C programming language and microprocessor development.
  • Experience with Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout
  • Experience with soldering and board rework.
  • Experience analyzing and debugging complex hardware using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.
  • Experience working with a multidisciplinary team environment through all phases of product development from initial concept to production release
  • Communicate effectively via written and spoken language; comprehends problems, urgency, and desired outcome in the absence of perfect information; shares information and ideas with others; conscientious listener.

Responsibilities

  • Schematic design and PCB layout of digital circuits for smart glasses and head mounted display products.
  • Work with PCB fabrication and SMT vendors to produce finished PCBAs for prototypes.
  • Test and debug new hardware for both functional correctness and reliability criteria.
  • Produce technical documentation for requirements, testing, and validation of designs.
  • Work with cross-functional engineering teams to develop electronics for highly constrained products.
  • Participate in cross-discipline design reviews to optimize product implementation.
  • Meets required ISO 9001:2015 standards and necessary training based on the relevant Quality Objectives.
