About The Position

Element has an opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer at our Tempe, AZ location. This role is ideal for an experienced EMI/EMC professional with a deep understanding of MIL-STD-461, RTCA/DO-160, and advanced test techniques such as HIRF and reverberation chamber testing. The Senior EMI Engineer will lead complex test programs, mentor junior engineers, and serve as a technical authority for EMI/EMC testing within the lab. Salary: $100,000- $140,000 yr DOE

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field
• Minimum of 7 years of direct EMI/EMC testing experience in a lab environment
• Expert-level knowledge of MIL-STD-461 and RTCA/DO-160 EMI/EMC requirements and test methodsHands-on experience with HIRF, reverberation chambers, and advanced RF susceptibility testing
• Proficiency with RF test instrumentation and software, including calibration and troubleshooting
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills; able to train and develop less experienced team members

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, setup, and execution of EMI/EMC tests for aerospace and defense programs in accordance with MIL-STD-461 and DO-160
• Develop detailed test procedures and ensure test integrity through expert troubleshooting and analysis
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians, providing hands-on training and technical oversight
• Interface directly with customers to define test approaches, resolve technical challenges, and communicate results
• Operate and configure a wide range of RF test equipment including antennas, amplifiers, LISNs, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators
• Analyze complex test data, determine compliance, and write clear, accurate technical reports suitable for regulatory or contractual submission
• Support HIRF and reverberation chamber testing, including mode-stirred and mode-tuned environments
• Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and procedural requirements while contributing to continuous improvement of lab capabilities
