Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 10 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
  • Adept in the technical aspects of one’s discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems
  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
  • Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
  • Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
  • Strong training and mentoring skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays

Responsibilities

  • Lead design efforts and analysis of electrical systems using engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standards
  • Perform site assessments and generate detailed technical reports
  • Build and maintain client relationships through effective communication and understanding of project requirements
  • Conduct in-process design reviews and implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure compliance with industry and client standards
  • Train, mentor, and motivate engineering staff
  • Provide technical assistance for field issue resolution with minimal support
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices; lead research and innovation efforts
  • Prioritize safety and identify potential risks in all engineering work
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated project solutions
  • Lead project interviews and presentations
