Requirements

  • Minimum BS in Electrical Engineering with high voltage experience
  • Understanding of power electronics knowledge, such AC/DC, DC/DC and DC/AC converters, motor control, etc.
  • 1 year+ experience of design and evaluation of any high voltage power conversion system – such as solar inverter, motor drives, EV charger, data center system, and/or energy storage system products.
  • Experience building and testing components in the lab.
  • Comfortable with all typical lab equipment – oscilloscopes, voltage/current probes, electronic loads, hand tools, soldering irons

Responsibilities

  • Design of high-power data center power system that contains a combination of AC/DC converters, DC/DC converters, and alternative energy resources (batteries, PV, etc.).
  • Perform trade studies for all electrical components within the system, including breakers, power converters, batteries, and sensors.
  • Manage discussions with suppliers for electrical equipment and make final part selections for the system.
  • Integrate system based on customer requirements - including all aforementioned components as well as potentially IT server equipment.
  • Produce electrical drawings for the overall system including one-line diagrams, wire harnesses, and electrical installations, based on customer specifications.
  • Create test plans, perform system level evaluation, and root cause analysis for converter or system level failures.
  • Design of supporting circuits such as isolation monitoring or controllers
  • Evaluate prototype hardware, from individual circuit boards to power converters.
  • Support software engineers to integrate algorithms and application code.
  • Apply electrical engineering knowledge to improve the system level protection and enhance the system reliability.
  • Engage with mechanical, system, test, and software team on product development.
