About The Position

Collins Aerospace, Systems Test Equipment, is looking for an Electrical Engineer to support the design and development of test equipment and setups for aircraft power generation systems. This role offers constant new challenges as Collins Aerospace continues to shape the future of aircraft electric power systems, including the emerging field of electrified propulsion. The ideal candidate is an analytical problem-solver with hands-on experience in designing, building, and commissioning test setups. Responsibilities include working with instrumentation, data acquisition systems, electrical system design, and aircraft-representative harnesses. You will collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team supporting our system integration test labs. Creativity and initiative are highly valued, as you will contribute to modernizing our test equipment with the latest technology and help define the future vision of our test capabilities.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience

  • Demonstrated experience in electrical design and system integration.
  • Ability to collaborate with test operators to modify and set up test equipment effectively.
  • Skilled in preparing and presenting analyses, reports, test results, and other contract deliverables related to performed analyses.
  • Capable of contributing to both large-scale and small-scale projects with equal effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate test plans and translate them into detailed requirements for test equipment.
  • Analyze requirements for unit testing interfaces and electrical circuits to ensure proper functionality.
  • Design harnessing and feeders to support test equipment and test setups.
  • Integrate instrumentation into test setups, including monitoring flows, pressures, electrical loads, torque, vibration, and temperature.
  • Coordinate the build, checkout, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical system test setups in collaboration with the hourly workforce, including electricians and test personnel.
  • Develop drawings, presentations, and technical papers to document designs and communicate findings.
  • Prepare project estimates and manage work within established budgets for both time and cost.
