About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Electrical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment focused on the design, development, and prototyping of innovative electro-mechanical systems with embedded electronics. Our client is a project-driven, engineering-focused small business with expertise in mechanical and electrical systems integration. Projects span a variety of industries, including mobility and automotive, medical and health technologies, robotics, and clean energy. They specialize in transforming early-stage concepts into fully engineered solutions, providing end-to-end support through concept development, detailed engineering, prototyping, and testing.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years of professional electrical engineering experience.
  • Direct involvement in multiple electro-mechanical systems with embedded electronics.
  • In-depth knowledge of motion control systems, including system theory and physical principles.
  • Strong technical communication skills, with the ability to present findings and recommendations to both internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Expertise in the design of motors, motor controllers, inverters/converters, power supplies, and other power electronics.
  • Experience with embedded system design, including microcontrollers, DSPs, programmable logic devices (FPGAs, CPLDs), memory systems, high-speed signal design, and MEMS sensors.
  • Familiarity with embedded C programming, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and/or Matlab Simulink Coder.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard communication protocols (CAN, USB, SPI, I2C, Ethernet).
  • Skilled in the use of electrical test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, in-circuit debuggers, and multimeters.
  • Experience with custom PCB design, from schematic entry and layout through fabrication, assembly, and validation.
  • Broad exposure to sensor technologies and system-level electrical architecture development.
  • Background in high-performance vehicle design (electric vehicles, hybrids, motorsports, Formula SAE, Solar Car, etc.).
  • Knowledge of battery systems and battery management technologies.
  • Experience with designing for harsh environments, including automotive-grade temperature, vibration, and shock requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with R&D programs, Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR), or venture capital-funded initiatives.
