The selected candidates will join a dynamic team working to put Great Systems on Orbit with capabilities to perform leading-edge tasks in laser communications, space electronics and sensors. On any given day, the successful candidates may be asked to perform the following duties:

Requirements

  • BS degree + 5 years' experience - OR - MS degree + 3 years' experience in design, analysis, integration, and test of custom electronics can be considered instead of a master's degree.
  • Proficiency in electrical design software and simulation tools (such as Altium, SPICE, MATLAB, Simulink, HyperLynx, and MS Office).
  • Ability to conduct circuit analysis and simulation to optimize performance and reliability.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • 10, or more, years engineering experience.
  • Understanding of space qualification standards and requirements.
  • Experience designing custom electronics for space products.
  • Experience designing to a defined requirements set.
  • Experience with analysis necessary for high-reliability space electronics hardware (Electrical stress analysis, worst case circuit analysis, and reliability analysis)
  • Experience and understanding of PCB manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Experience producing board layouts is a plus
  • Understanding of relevant IPC standards needed for electrical design and fabrication.
  • Experience leading sub-assemblies or circuit card designs with small teams of two or three.
  • Experience developing and conducting testing of complex electronic sub-assemblies along with design of special test equipment (STE).
  • Experience deriving sub-assembly requirements from higher-level, flowed down, system requirements and defining test methodologies.
  • Experience developing design & verification documentation (Interface Control Document/Drawings (ICD), Design Description Document (DDD), Test Plan, Test Procedures, Test Reports, etc.).
  • Written and verbal communication skills necessary to present designs to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to complete assigned work within a defined timeline and budget.

Responsibilities

  • Design custom high speed digital electronics including the use of ADCs, DACs, FPGAs, processors, and communications drivers.
  • Design, and conduct analysis of, analog circuits including low-noise signal conditioning and power amplifiers.
  • Provide expertise to both product development and R&D efforts.
  • Collaborate with peers, leads, and managers to develop, review, and refine designs and analyses to meet program technical needs within defined time and budget constraints.
  • Work within a broad-disciplined program team providing expertise in support of electronics manufacturing and test.
