We are looking for a Senior Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls (EIC) Engineer to join our team and take a lead role in the design and execution of projects across the Oil & Gas and Utility sectors. This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who can provide technical direction, review design work, coordinate across disciplines, and support client and vendor interactions throughout all phases of a project. In this role, you'll be responsible for leading the development of complete electrical and I&C design packages, supporting system studies and equipment specification, and mentoring less experienced team members. You will work closely with project managers, clients, and discipline leads to deliver high-quality, practical solutions on a range of facility and infrastructure projects. This is a hands-on design role with opportunities to grow into increased leadership, client engagement, and project responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program and 7 years electrical engineering experience.
  • EPC project experience preferred.
  • Master Degree can substitute as 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical equipment design ANSI and IEEE Standards.
  • Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and review of comprehensive electrical drawing packages, including one-line diagrams, electrical area classification plans, grounding layouts, lighting plans, and raceway/conduit routing plans.
  • Select, specify and review electrical equipment including switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, transformers, UPS, PDCs, and power panels.
  • Perform and oversee electrical system studies, including load flow, short circuit, arc-flash, and coordination using ETAP or SKM.
  • Execute and validate electrical calculations (e.g., cable sizing, voltage drop, conduit sizing/fill, short circuit levels).
  • Review and approve vendor submittals, BOMs, and support equipment procurement.
  • Provide technical direction for junior engineers and designers on electrical scope.
  • Oversee development of complete I&C design packages, including instrument location plans, instrument lists, and I/O lists.
  • Review and guide development of instrument datasheets, control philosophies, and cause & effect matrices.
  • Specify and validate design for PLCs, RTUs, SCADA, instrumentation, and control system components.
  • Provide oversight on network architecture and industrial protocol selection (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, Ethernet/IP).
  • Lead development of conceptual designs, execution strategies, and technical portions of proposals.
  • Conduct and lead site walks to gather field data and evaluate design constraints.
  • Participate in or lead HAZOP, LOPA, and other risk or safety reviews.
  • Maintain design quality through internal QA/QC reviews, checklist compliance, and redline resolution.
  • Serve as technical liaison for clients and vendors during design and procurement phases.
  • Mentor junior engineers, check their work, and provide feedback for technical growth.
