About The Position

The Senior Electrical Engineer with specialized expertise in Primary High Voltage (HV) Design is a fantastic opportunity to work on high-profile projects, particularly in the design of substations rated above 132kV, and collaborate with a team of offshore designers. You will lead the design and engineering of primary substation projects, focusing on systems rated above 132kV, and engage in all phases of the project lifecycle, from initial concept through to detailed design and execution. You will collaborate effectively with offshore engineering teams, ensuring seamless project progression and adherence to quality standards. Additionally, you will prepare and review technical documentation, including design calculations, specifications, and reports, while ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and codes, particularly within the context of the Australian and New Zealand markets. You will conduct design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and other project team members, maintain effective communication with clients, stakeholders, and team members, and stay updated with advancements in electrical engineering technologies and methodologies.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years professional experience in electrical engineering, with a strong focus on primary substation design
  • Proven experience in designing substations rated higher than 132kV
  • Demonstrable experience working with offshore designers, alongside an ability to coordinate and communicate effectively across different time zones and cultures
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Familiarity with Australian and New Zealand electrical codes and practices is highly advantageous
