About The Position

The Senior Electrical Engineer - Autonomy at Fincantieri Marinette Marine is responsible for solving technical problems, developing documentation, and supervising resources to support assigned projects. This role involves determining technical requirements, defining resource needs, and addressing technical issues within the electrical engineering domain, particularly in the context of shipbuilding for the U.S. Navy.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in electrical engineering, particularly in a shipbuilding or defense context.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Experience in project planning, estimation, and scheduling.
  • Excellent communication skills for facilitating discussions and mentoring team members.
  • Ability to interpret and apply contract requirements effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with autonomy systems in marine applications.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Navy shipbuilding standards and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently in solving technical issues.
  • Plan, estimate, schedule, and monitor assigned work and the work of assigned resources.
  • Track progress, report progress, recommend improvements to budget and schedule, and recommend reductions to budget and schedule.
  • Facilitate communications of issues and solutions throughout FMM, subcontractors, or customers.
  • Mentor team members in effective communication techniques.
  • Prepare, check, and issue professional quality deliverables, mentoring team members on improving performance deliverables.
  • Interpret contract requirements and apply them to functional assignments, mentoring team members and subcontractors in their understanding.
  • Identify and develop contract change documents to support project needs.
  • Lead or participate in product improvement projects and working groups.
  • Define, track, monitor, and provide direction for subcontract activities.
  • Effectively supervise and mentor assigned resources during onboarding, skill development, or projects.
