About The Position

Tract Capital is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer owns the electrical design and power system studies discipline design for Fleet’s behind-the-meter (BTM) power solutions and related campus interfaces. This role develops and maintains the electrical Basis of Design (BOD), leads technical alignment with vendors and electric utilities, and ensures designs meet safety, code, and availability expectations for mission-critical deployments. How will you make a difference? Own electrical discipline scope for BTM generation integration, including one-line development, grounding/bonding, protection, controls interfaces, and telemetry requirements. Develop and maintain the electrical Basis of Design (BOD) and design standards; ensure consistency across sites and deployments. Lead coordination with equipment vendors (switchgear, transformers, breakers, relays, metering, controls) and validate compliance to Tract Capital standards and customer requirements. Drive alignment with electric utilities and interconnection requirements where applicable; support technical documentation and utility review processes. Support design reviews and constructability reviews with EPC partners; resolve RFIs and ensure high-quality built and turnover packages. Define commissioning and acceptance requirements for electrical scope; support testing, energization planning, and troubleshooting during start-up. Partner with Operations and Critical Facilities teams to ensure maintainable operating modes, clear procedures, and robust change management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline. PE preferred.
  • 8+ years in electrical design for mission-critical facilities, power systems, or industrial generation integration.
  • Senior-level experience owning the electrical discipline scope for behind-the-meter (BTM) generation integration,
  • Proven track record developing and maintaining the electrical Basis of Design (BOD) and design standards, driving consistency across multiple sites and deployments.
  • Extensive experience leading coordination with electrical equipment vendors and validating compliance with internal standards and customer requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive alignment with electric utilities and interconnection requirements, including ownership of technical documentation and utility review processes.
  • Senior-level experience supporting and leading design and constructability reviews with EPC partners, resolving RFIs, and ensuring high-quality built and turnover packages.
  • Hands-on experience defining commissioning and acceptance requirements for electrical scope, including testing, energization planning, and troubleshooting during start-up.
  • Proven collaboration with multiple teams to establish maintainable operating modes, clear procedures, and robust change management in mission-critical deployments.

Nice To Haves

  • Reciprocating Gas Engine (RICE), Turbines, Fuell Cells, Battery design and deployment experience at 75 MW+ scale highly preferred.
  • Experience with paralleling switchgear, MV/LV distribution, protection coordination, and commissioning in data centers or similar critical environments.
  • Experience working directly with utilities, AHJs, and third-party testing/commissioning providers.
  • Working knowledge of NERC, FERC, NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE standards relevant to protection and power quality.
  • Familiarity with OT monitoring/SCADA integration and alarm management.
