About The Position

WSP USA is initiating a search for a Full-time Electrical/ Critical Systems’ Commissioning Agent for our New York office. Other office locations considered are New Jersey, Philadelphia and Virginia. Our engineers work on high quality, high-profile, national and international projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for the execution of building commissioning processes (new/re/retro/continuous), energy auditing and building retrofit applications, support for sustainability certification applications, and measurement and verification techniques. WSP USA offers excellent growth opportunities: Many of our senior leaders started out as young engineers in our firm. Initially, you will work under the supervision, training, and guidance of the senior commissioning leadership. Preliminary participation in business development activities will also be encouraged.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Architectural Engineering or Construction-related field or equivalent years of related industry experience.
  • 5-7+ years of relevant post education experience in discipline with prior building and systems commissioning experience.
  • Knowledge of building commissioning principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues.
  • Technical knowledge of HVAC and Electrical building systems to evaluate and test the performance of these systems.
  • Essential Professional Licensure/Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • Essential or enhancing professional licensure/certification.
  • Knowledge of Electrical systems’ coordination and SKM, E-Tap, E-Z Power for Short Circuit /Coordination /Arc Flash programs.
  • Experience with sustainable design practices or facilities operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site during various construction phases.
  • Perform professional building and system commissioning work by conducting research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions.
  • Develop and configure testing specifications and readiness plans; preparing and updating checklists/punch lists and cost estimates.
  • Involved from project inception to completion for commissioning work deliverables throughout various project work phases.
  • Assist with advanced technologies, monitoring, modeling techniques, design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies.
  • Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on various design, installation, and integration issues.
  • Assist cross-functional teams with executing project work on mid-level and/or multiple concurrent projects.
  • Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, reports, sketches, calculations, and technical drawings.
  • Maintain quality control standards, document logs of control and equipment functionality testing and verification.
  • Assist with development and scoping of medium- to large-sized commissioning projects.
  • Provide guidance and training to entry-level to mid-level commissioning staff.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, and recommendations.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and interpret data obtained during site assessments.
  • Interact with any applicable regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, engineers, inspectors, project control, and technicians.
  • Remain current in latest commissioning techniques and practices.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
