Caterpillar Inc. seeks Senior Electrical Component Engineer at its facility located at 2427 E Engine Drive, Chillicothe, IL 61523.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical or Mechanical engineering or a related field and 5 years of experience in engineering development or related occupation.
  • Alternatively, a Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical or Mechanical engineering or a related field and 3 years of experience in engineering development or related occupation.
  • Employment experience with New Product Introduction and Development.
  • Employment experience with Continuous Product Improvement Development.
  • Experience with mechanical hand tools, electrical measurement devices, disassembly of industrial electro-mechanical devices and failure analysis root cause determination.
  • Collaboration with technical suppliers to establish requirements, design and fabricate prototype and production components, validate components, manage product quality planning, and pricing discussions.
  • Heavy Duty Electrical, Electromagnetic, or Electric AC/DC Motor component Design and Development.
  • System Integration of Heavy Duty Electrical, Electromagnetic, or Electric AC/DC Motor components.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject-matter expert and primary channel of communication regarding starting motor and alternator products.
  • Direct the concept, design, development, and testing of complex engineering projects.
  • Prepare development plans and coordinate engineering meetings.
  • Work closely with a diverse team from a variety of backgrounds (engineering, manufacturing, finance, materials science, product validation, sales, etc.).
  • Lead the introduction of new products from selection, validation, machine testing, and manufacturing.
  • Lead and facilitate the New Product Introduction process and Stakeholder Reviews for Starting and charging components.
  • Provide project guidance and delegate responsibility to other engineers as appropriate.
  • Interact with diverse suppliers and Caterpillar facilities around the globe.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of starting and charging components and systems.
  • Conduct failure analysis of starting and charging components.
  • Identify, evaluate, define, and resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Coordinate the receipt of samples and test plans for starting and charging validation on prototype and pilot machines.
  • Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of new starting and charging technologies and communicate to colleagues.
  • Use technical expertise to lead a team toward the resolution of starting and charging issues.
