Raytheon is seeking a Senior Component Engineer, with an emphasis on magnetic components (transformers, inductors, chokes, coils, and sensors) and passive parts, resistor, capacitors to join the Parts Libraries and Obsolescence (PLO) Department. The selected candidate will perform and/or assist in the performance of Components Engineering or Applications Engineering tasks supporting airborne, ground, and tactical platforms/programs in the proposal, Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP), production and support phases. This position will require day to day interface with suppliers (vendors), designers, Parts Obsolescence Lead/Manager (POL), Product Development Engineering (PDE), Electronic Computer Aided Design (ECAD), Program Management Office (PMO), Supply Chain Management (SCM), and other disciplines.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years’ experience with electronic component parts and their application, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience
  • Experience recommending lifetime buy, design changes, alternate parts and alternate sources of supply (OMT)
  • Experience with at least 3 of the following skills: Mitigation for obsolescence issues, Development of system interconnect solutions, Development of project plans, budgets and schedules

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with project management and project management software
  • Ability to create component verification data packages with supporting data
  • Experience presenting component standardization, design library, obsolescence management and termination finish risk results in support of program preliminary and critical design reviews (PDRs / CDRs)on passive parts, resistor, capacitors and magnetics to join the Parts Libraries and Obsolescence (PLO) Department.

Responsibilities

  • Perform component obsolescence management and risk coding of components to determine lifecycle status
  • Work with suppliers to resolve manufacturing related issues
  • Generate and revise source control drawings
  • Perform alternate part investigations and generate comparison matrices showing the differences and similarities of the parts
  • Understand program requirements and statements of work (SOW)
  • Determine program component environmental/characteristic application requirements
  • Provide technology insertion and parts selection/standardization guidance while adhering to business, component parametric, application environmental and circuit application constraints
  • Interface with multiple internal stakeholders and external suppliers/manufacturers to develop component risk and verification delineation
  • Create component verification data packages with supporting data
  • Facilitate component selection and libraries application through the coordination and generation of the program bill of material (BOM) in a collaboration toolset
  • Present component standardization, design library, obsolescence management and termination finish risk results in support of program preliminary and critical design reviews (PDRs / CDRs.)
  • Project management responsibilities
  • Provide enhancements to RTX projects, programs or systems within job area
