About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Senior Electrical Build Engineer to lead a team of electrical engineers in delivering high‑quality HV, LV and CAN‑based electrical systems. You’ll take ownership of day‑to‑day workflow, mentor junior engineers, and ensure all builds, installations and commissioning activities meet our high safety and quality standards. This hands‑on role involves overseeing electrical build, fault‑finding, driving continuous improvement, and working closely with other disciplines to keep projects on track. Your role is crucial in ensuring the quality and performance of our products and places you at the forefront of advancing world-leading maritime technology.

Requirements

  • Previous experience leading a team of engineers in a production environment, understanding processes and procedures.
  • Able to work with a deep understanding of DC power systems as well as PLC and CAN control architecture.
  • Experience of fault finding, new builds, quality control and creating of documentation for process.
  • Must be proficient in the use of hand tools and confident to build, fit and fault find complex system and components to a high standard.
  • Able to work from drawings and work instructions, complete documentation when required.
  • Computer literate with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • City & Guilds, HNC or HND qualification in Electrical, Electronic Engineering or Marine Engineering, or extended experience in an Automotive or marine environment.
  • Able to fault find and fix mechanical, hydraulic systems.
  • Able to use Auto-CAD, Inventor, and other 3D software.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of Electrical Engineers, providing daily direction, support, and technical oversight to ensure high‑quality delivery.
  • Allocate tasks, manage workloads, and set clear priorities aligned with project timelines and production requirements.
  • Conduct skills development, and on‑the‑job training to improve team capability in electrical installation, fault‑finding, and safe working practices.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture within the electrical build team.
  • Ensure the team follows company processes and project schedules accurately to support on‑time delivery.
  • Understand and continue to work closely with the Production Engineering team to continually improve and improve efficiency across projects.
  • Oversee and participate in the installation, routing, termination, and integration of complex electrical systems, including HV, LV, and CAN‑based architectures.
  • Ensure all electrical systems are correctly set‑to‑work, tested, and commissioned to meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure the team uses suitable components, tooling, and installation methods that meet operational and quality requirements.
  • Act as the senior point of accountability for electrical build quality, ensuring consistent standards across all team members.
  • Conduct inspections, sign‑offs, and reviews of build work to ensure compliance with internal processes and industry regulations.
  • Lead diagnostics and fault‑finding activities, ensuring rapid issue resolution and thorough root‑cause analysis.
  • Use digital work‑management tools to monitor progress, update documentation, and ensure accurate traceability of work completed.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of build procedures, work instructions, and workshop processes. Always having continuous improvement in mind.
  • Encourage innovative thinking within the team, driving efficiency, consistency, and reliability across the workshop.
  • Lead feedback loops to address recurring build issues and support cross‑department improvements.
  • Maintain a safe, organised, and professional workshop area; ensure the team upholds the same high standards.
  • Demonstrate pride, ownership, and professional integrity in all electrical builds, representing the team and organisation with excellence.
  • Feeding into system design, assemble and fit electrical components and systems according to specifications.
  • Competent use of hand tools and fault finding equipment.
  • Confident in the fault finding of High Voltage, Low voltage and CAN based systems.
  • Assisting in the sourcing and selection of components with the build and manufacture of the electrical and control system
  • Quality control and setting to work of vessel electrical systems.
  • Follow work instructions and project timelines diligently to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Utilise tablet-based work management systems to access work instructions, record progress, and complete documentation accurately.
  • Collaborate in the creation of process and work instructions.
  • Work closely with all team members in a collaborative environment to achieve project goals.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues to coordinate tasks, share insights, and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Maintain exacting standards of workmanship in all aspects of craft build, maintenance and development.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, quality control measures, and industry standards.
  • Think innovatively to propose and implement improvements in systems design, installation techniques, build processes, and fault finding.
  • Contribute ideas to enhance efficiency, quality, and productivity in the workshop.
  • Take pride in the workshop environment and maintain elevated levels of cleanliness and organisation.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to producing high-quality systems and components that reflect positively on the team and the organisation.
