About The Position

GAI Consultants is seeking an Senior EIT 2 with a bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Civil Engineering and a EIT certificate plus a minimum of eight (6) years of post-baccalaureate, progressively responsible experience in Civil Engineering. Potential work locations may include offices in Cranberry or Homestead, PA. Applicants would be responsible for developing, coordinating, and managing highway design efforts as well as preparing construction plans, right-of-way plans, specifications, and project estimates. Responsibilities Include: Transportation design including roadway design and traffic analysis. Assist with developing and providing oversight for the preparation of scopes, budgets, and schedules for specific tasks of overall projects, supervise staff to complete their assigned tasks; identify project staffing requirements and coordinate staffing with supervisor; maintain GAI’s procedures and protocols; assist with all aspects of financials on projects. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledgeable in MicroStation with the familiarity of roadway design software such as OpenRoads Designer desired. May serve as a Task Manager on small projects. General Characteristics Develops broad knowledge and skills in a specific practice area. Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects with few complex features. Collaboratively uses judgment to determine adaptations in methods for nonroutine aspects of assignments. Applies principles of probability and statistics to determine risk relevant to engineering.

Requirements

  • bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Civil Engineering
  • EIT certificate
  • minimum of eight (6) years of post-baccalaureate, progressively responsible experience in Civil Engineering
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and obtained engineer-in-training (EIT) or engineering-intern (EI) certification
  • Performs moderate design tasks.
  • Prepares portions of plans, specifications, and other project documents.
  • Performs research and field investigation.
  • Works as a part of a team and coordinates work with others.
  • Assists in determining schedule and budget requirements.
  • Possess effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Interacts with other staff.
  • Interacts with clients with close oversight.
  • Interacts closely with Project Managers & various Department Managerial Staff, especially with client communications.
  • Interacts with clients at regular project meetings.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledgeable in MicroStation with the familiarity of roadway design software such as OpenRoads Designer desired.
