About The Position

Senior-level EHS professional responsible for leading safety and environmental compliance activities during construction and capital project execution within an industrial or manufacturing environment. This role requires strong field presence, contractor oversight, regulatory expertise (OSHA 29 CFR 1926 & 1910), and the ability to manage multiple high-risk activities simultaneously in active construction areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or related field (preferred)
  • Minimum 5–7 years of EHS experience in construction, industrial, or manufacturing environments.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification (Required).
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910 standards.
  • Experience with JHA/JSA, high-risk permits, confined space, excavation & trenching, fall protection, LOTO, and hot work permits.
  • Daily presence in active construction (“dirty”) areas is required.
  • Ability to wear required PPE for extended periods (hard hat, safety boots, high-visibility vest, respiratory protection if required).
  • Ability to walk long distances, climb stairs/ladders, and remain standing for extended periods.
  • Must be available to respond to emergencies or critical incidents outside of regular working hours.
  • Willingness to work extended hours based on project needs.
  • Availability outside standard business hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to support shutdowns, audits, incident investigations, and critical construction phases as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in pharmaceutical or GMP-regulated environments.
  • Experience supporting capital projects or brownfield construction.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily EHS field inspections in active construction areas.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 (Construction) and OSHA 29 CFR 1910 (General Industry).
  • Evaluate and approve Job Hazard Analysis (JHA/JSA).
  • Generate and approve high-risk permits (Excavation, Confined Space, Hot Work, LOTO, Work at Heights).
  • Maintain project safety barriers and restricted areas.
  • Provide initial Contractor EHS Safety Orientation.
  • Coordinate required daily permits with contractors and project management.
  • Serve as principal liaison between Project Team, Contractors, and Site EHS.
  • Participate in daily safety coordination meetings.
  • Implement and maintain environmental control requirements.
  • Review and approve Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Monitor housekeeping, waste management, and spill prevention practices.
  • Respond to field incidents and emergencies.
  • Conduct root cause investigations.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Report safety metrics and findings to project leadership.
  • Maintain visitor logs and permit tracking systems.
  • Submit required safety documentation for management approval.
  • Maintain compliance records for audits and inspections.
  • Oversee multiple trades simultaneously during project execution.
  • Participate in project walkthroughs and construction safety inspections.
