We’re looking for a Senior EHS Specialist who’s passionate about safety leadership, collaboration, and problem-solving to support daily EHS operations, guide risk reduction efforts, and inspire teams across both plants. Summary/Purpose The Senior EHS Specialist identifies plans, recommends, garners support for, and assists the EHS Supervisor with EHS programs, activities and projects leading to innovative applications and extensions of existing and new programs/systems having major importance to the business within the assigned area of responsibility. This position will establish and cultivate a network of in-plant support (technical, manufacturing, engineering, maintenance) to facilitate completion of programs or assignments. This position will support and possibly lead cross-functional teams. The Senior EHS Specialist will advise management regarding corrective actions, improvement opportunities, etc. and serve as mentor for site employees. This position will assist the EHS Supervisor in identifying risks and recommending risk control solutions. Duties will also include administrative responsibilities for both plants while supporting the day-to-day operations of the EHS Department, data gathering and analysis, team building and coordination. Essential Duties and Accountabilities: Support EHS Staff role while participating in other EHS functions listed below in support of EHS staff. Some functions could be in a leadership role. Participate in and/or lead incident investigation and/or response teams for EHS incidents Participate in and/or lead EHS audits and/or self-assessments Assist in developing recycling options and a JATV Waste Management Plan that meet all applicable regulations for industrial waste streams Monitor tracking systems of waste streams. Develop plant level Waste Management Plan under direction of EHS Supervisor. Conduct trend analyses, audits, accident investigations, and site inspections of operational procedures, facility design, equipment, and material in support of EHS initiatives. Participate in Site EHS Committee meetings and associated activities (small teams, ad-hoc teams) Assist in pursuing and achieving safety and environmental goals and objectives Assist in coordination accident prevention and ergonomic improvement process improvements. Analyze data in compliance with current regulations and make appropriate recommendations to prevent new or recurring issues Assist in designing and implementation of transportation and packaging for waste products Develop, plan, and conduct safety and environmental training as directed by EHS Supervisor. Complete routine and non-routine internal or external EHS compliance/performance reports and associated data analysis Assist in the implementation of an on-going industrial hygiene chemical/noise exposure and assessment and monitoring program Assist in the revision and update of EHS policies Lead team in mobile equipment incident reduction initiative. Complete and/or assist in completion of regulatory permits and other government agency records Assist in preparing and submitting required reports to regulatory and governmental agencies Work daily overtime, split shift, and Saturdays and/or Sundays when directed by immediate supervisor or, as necessary, to complete essential job duties Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned Maintain privacy of all PHI in accordance with HIPAA regulations Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has fill in supervisory responsibilities for 1-4 Technicians. Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Previous team leader or other supervisory experience is preferred Demonstrated mechanical and technical aptitude. Ability to make decisions based on knowledge of applicable procedures, rules and regulations Knowledge of sampling methods, and basic statistical process control tools Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work independently Previous experience in a manufacturing environment Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word and Excel and be able to demonstrate competency in all Microsoft Office applications and must be able to demonstrate such skills if asked. Able to handle confidential information and maintain the highest legal and ethical standards Basic knowledge of applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental management systems Self-starter, ability to work alone and make decisions based on current information until Supervision is available. Education and Experience: Associate’s degree, preferably in Safety and/or Environmental related discipline, or 5+ years of related experience preferred Experience working with regulatory agencies such as DOT and OSHA preferred Microsoft office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and other applicable applications a must. This position is posted as a Senior ESH Specialist. Depending on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, the role may be filled at the Assistant ESH Coordinator level. Work Environment/Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in standing and/or sitting position during entire shift schedule Must have manual dexterity for such duties as stapling, collating, sorting, filing, typing, and writing Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations. Ability to understand reports and information from computer. Maintain a minimum of 8 hours worked/day, 5 days/week.
