A Day in the Life In this exciting role as the Senior ES Specialist, you will develop, administer and implement EHS programs at the Mystic, CT facility. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned. Develops, administers and implements environmental, health, and safety programs in accordance with governmental requirements. Develops, administers and implements environment, health, and safety (EHS) programs in accordance with governmental and company requirements. These programs include, but are not limited to: Control of Hazardous Energy, Hazard Communication, Person Protective Equipment, Ergonomics, Contractor Safety, Emergency Action & Fire Prevention, Injury and Spill Investigation and Reporting, Respiratory Protection, Electrical Safety, Hot Work, Job Safety Analysis, Powered Industrial Trucks, Management of Change, Wastewater Permit Compliance, Drinking Water Management, Air Emission Tracking, Hazardous & Non-Hazardous Waste Management, Green House Gas Tracking. Interacts with site management to ensure compliance with EHS programs and resolve compliance / company requirement gaps. Interacts with regulatory bodies to resolve compliance gaps and assists in regulatory audits. Works with cross functional team to investigate injuries and environmental incidents and ensures corrective/preventative actions are implemented, including engineering controls, recommending organizational measures to protect workers’ safety or prevent environmental incidents through revised methods, processes, or materials. Provide/promote employee awareness/training on matters of EHS. Conducts EHS reviews for new product development, facility modification, product manufacturing modifications, and new equipment/machinery installations. Develops and drives programs and policies to improve Safety Culture and better understanding of risk. Leads site Environmental Action Group (EAG) that monitors pollution prevention activities and supports efforts to reduce environmental impact. Manage hazardous waste compliance. Collects regulatory data from environmental monitoring systems/certified laboratories and utilizes the data to generate regulatory reports such as Tier II, TRI, and monthly / annual air emissions. Collects and compiles site waste data for company sustainability reporting. Oversees wastewater and drinking water sampling and analyzes sample results for compliance.

Requirements

  • Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A)
  • minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with CT, OSHA and EPA regulations for health, safety and environmental programs
  • Experience with managing SDWA Drinking Water Systems and Wastewater Treatment Systems
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
