Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is on the lookout for a Senior Environmental Specialist to join our team in the United States. The Senior Environmental Specialist is in charge of guiding and overseeing environmental projects, ensuring conformity to environmental regulations, and implementing harmonious practices within the organization. This role encompasses conducting environmental assessments, devising strategies for environmental management, and offering counsel on environmental concerns.

  • Lead and manage environmental projects from inception to completion.
  • Conduct environmental assessments and audits to ensure due diligence and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Develop and implement environmental management plans and sustainability initiatives.
  • Offer advice and mentorship on environmental matters to collaborators.
  • Monitor and report on environmental performance and progress towards goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate environmental considerations into business operations.
  • Prepare and submit environmental reports and documentation to regulatory agencies.
  • Stay updated on environmental laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Manage historical environmental liabilities including Connecticut Transfer Act requirements.
  • Aid sites in aligning with environmental requirements.
  • Support sites in the event of upset conditions, such as loss of containment, spills, transportation incidents.
  • Train and mentor site environmental staff.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree is advantageous).
  • At least 5 years of experience in environmental management or a related area is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of global environmental regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Established track record in leading environmental projects and initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Environmental Professional) are a plus.
  • Master's degree in a related field.
