About The Position

Oversee all aspects of environmental, health and safety (EHS) management at the assigned manufacturing facility and facilitate EHS function at sister facility (as requested). Serve as a key member of the site leadership team, developing, training, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive EHS programs aligned with Chromascape Corporate guidance, thereby fostering a culture of care for coworkers and the community. Ensure operational excellence through continual improvement in risk mitigation and sustainable practices. Provide guidance for Plant Management to operate the facility in a compliant and responsible manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety management, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety,Chemical or Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Deep knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and local EHS regulations.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Chemical Manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with basic process engineering skills including a good understanding of unit operations,chemical processes, thermodynamics, equipment design & specification, and process safetyreview.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Ability to train personnel.
  • Ability to write, review, and train on procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Any of the following certifications and/ortrainingwould be valuable: Associate SafetyProfessional (ASP), HAZWOPER, DOT/IATA/IMDG, Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH),Professional Engineer.
  • Experience with PSM-covered processes is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS programs inaccordance with federal, state, and local EHS regulatory requirements and company policies; toinclude maintaining a Contractor Management and Safe Work Permitting system.
  • Conduct risk assessments, audits, incident investigations, and root cause analyses and ensureimplementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Championa strong culture of CARE by driving employee engagement through EHS programimplementation, maintenance, and training. Onboard all new employees in EHS expectationsthrough a robust onboarding process.
  • Develop safe hazardous materials handling including process safety management (PSM), wastemanagement, and chemical exposure controls.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies during inspections, permitting, and reporting processes.
  • Monitor EHS performance metrics and work with SLT to drive continual improvement.
  • Lead emergencypreparednessand response planning for chemical incidents and other siteemergencies.
  • Work as part of a team of EHS professionals and coordinate cross-functional EHS committees. Each Sr. EHS Manager will directly manage EHS at their primary facility and provide oversite foranother smaller facility with an assigned EHS Coordinator.
  • Ensure Facility compliance and cooperation with all applicable regulatory agencies andorganizations to include local emergency planning commissions, state environmental departments,and federal agencies such as EPA and Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
  • Track, report, record and file all necessary data needed to complete and ensure accurate publicreporting for OSHA, SARA (Tier II and TRI), waste, water, and air.
  • SeniorEHS Manager is designated as the Facility Security Officer for primary facility. Job dutiesinclude preparing the initial Site Security Plan and updating it; Conducting annual internal securityaudits; Hosting DHS inspections; Designing and documenting security training for all employees;and Maintaining required records.
  • Write/maintain site-specific EHS procedures, train employees, and coach SLT and site personnel regarding compliance with all elements of the EHS Program.
  • Participatein monitoring critical process variables and critical equipment concerns that bear a direct impact on safety and work with Plant Staff on implementing EHS-related projects
  • Provide case management for all work-related medical incidents to ensure proper treatment, classification, and/orrequired workercompensation documentation.
  • Participate in employee emergency medical visits to ensure appropriate care is provided while maintaining due diligence in case management.
  • Ensure proper management to disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Profile, track, and report waste management and removal of onsite waste (as required by relevant environmental agencies), including driving waste reduction where possible.
  • Track, trend, and report monthly KPI’s to report environmental protection performance, including program compliance in wastewater, storm water, and air emissions management.
  • Maintain Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS), and ensure all personnel are aware of the hazards and how to protect themselves and the community.
  • Implement and sustain Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Program (RMP), as applicable, including leading process hazard assessments.
  • Review product and raw material changes or introductions from an EHS perspective.
