About The Position

This position supports environmental, health, safety and security at the Beltsville, MD manufacturing facility. Responsibilities include supporting EHS activities at the site; performing risk assessments; compliance audits and inspections; design and/or implementation of EHS solutions; internal reporting of EHS performance; communication of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements; closure of MESH and regulatory findings in a timely manner; completion of training for required EHS personnel; and creating a strong zero incident EHS culture that engages employees throughout the site in EHS teams and processes.  Support the EHS Manager for the implementation, auditing, and sustainment of OSHA compliance programs and lead projects and process improvement activities in support of these programs, including, but not limited to; Machine Guarding, Electrical Safety, Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, Overhead Crane Safety, Fall Protection, Industrial Powered Trucks, PPE, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Radiation Safety, Contractor Safety, Chemical Management, and Hazard Communication.  Support the EHS Manager for the implementation, auditing, and sustainment of environmental compliance programs for multiple media (including air emissions, wastewater discharge, stormwater discharge, and waste handling and disposal) and for sustainability goals.  Support in the development, maintenance, and achievement of goals in alignment with corporate and business group EHS strategic initiatives.  Partner with front-line leadership to drive a robust zero-incident EHS culture, legal compliance, and EHS programs by supporting daily EHS communications, providing guidance on EHS policies and procedures, and involving production teams in proactively identify risks and driving improvements.  Track and perform analysis on appropriate leading and lagging EHS indicators.  Assist with developing, conducting, and tracking required EHS training and the development of supporting champions for EHS programs.  Develop campaigns to promote zero incident EHS culture throughout site.  Support identification, design, implementation of improved safety or environmental measures for workstations, equipment, or other operations in support of continuous improvement.  Support and oversee EHS-related capital projects and services through management of change, coordination and review of engineering designs for compliance with regulations, and management of contractors. Ability to act as an agent of change. Effective in enabling and driving change. Delivering all communication with clarity, impact and passion, and tailored to the audience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in safety and / or environmental science or Safety and/or Environmental engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 3+ year of environmental, health and / or safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now or in the future.
  • This position requires access to export-controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, applicant must be a U.S. person, defined as a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Beltsville, MD will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ year of environmental, health and/or safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Graduate Safety Professional (GSP)
  • Master's degree in safety and / or environmental science or safety and / or Environmental engineering
  • Experience with environmental permitting and regulatory compliance
  • Understanding of ISO 14001 standards and internal auditor.
