Senior Educator, ConnectED

OpenDor MediaNew York, NY
Hybrid

About The Position

OpenDor Media is seeking an experienced, dynamic educator and relationship-builder to join our ConnectED division in a hybrid role. ConnectED partners with independent and public schools (grades 6–12) to help students and educators engage thoughtfully with complex and often sensitive topics, including the Israeli-Palestinian story, antisemitism and the Holocaust, Jewish history, courageous conversations, and media literacy. We believe in nuance, empathy, and respectful dialogue—and we’re looking for someone who can bring that spirit into classrooms, faculty rooms, and school partnerships. This role combines senior-level teaching and facilitation with strategic partnership management. The majority of this position is focused on direct educational work—designing curriculum, delivering programs, and coaching faculty—while also serving as a key relationship manager for a portfolio of ConnectED partner schools. The ideal candidate brings deep classroom experience, strong interpersonal skills, and a genuine passion for building lasting school partnerships. When relevant, this role will also support Unpacked for Educators initiatives. This full-time role is hybrid, with significant in-person teaching required. You’ll regularly travel to deliver programming and support partner schools across the country. This position reports to the Vice President of ConnectED.

Requirements

  • Classroom Experience: Minimum of 7 years teaching in a middle or high school setting, ideally within independent or secular schools.
  • Curriculum Expertise: Demonstrated experience in curriculum design with familiarity with models such as UbD or PBL.
  • Facilitation Strength: Experience guiding conversations around challenging or sensitive topics with poise, care, and confidence before both large and small groups.
  • Confident Presenter: Strong public speaking skills and comfort leading both large group sessions and intimate discussions.
  • Relationship Management: Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with school administrators and stakeholders; skilled at listening to partners’ needs and connecting them with the right resources.
  • Mission Alignment: Deep interest in at least some of our core topics (Israel, antisemitism, Jewish history, media literacy) and a commitment to nuance and empathy.
  • Strategic & Organized: Able to balance big-picture thinking with attention to detail; manages multiple projects and partnerships with precision and strong follow-through.
  • Strong Communicator: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; confident engaging school leaders, facilitating discussions, and representing ConnectED with professionalism and warmth.
  • Collaborative & Mission-Driven: A team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment with a “get things done” mindset, bringing positive energy, initiative, and adaptability.
  • Tech Fluency: Proficiency in Google Workspace, Zoom, and Salesforce; able to facilitate engaging online programs and maintain accurate records.
  • Cultural Fit: Brings a secular, inclusive perspective that resonates in diverse school environments.
